About CMG

A physician-led company built from the provider side of locums.

Confluence Medical Group is a physician- and veteran-led healthcare and imaging company serving physicians, healthcare facilities, imaging organizations, commercial customers and government customers.

Why Confluence exists

Lower overhead.
Clearer terms.
Better working relationships.

Dr. James F. Wiedenhoefer founded CMG after years of practicing radiology and working locum tenens. Through his own experience, he saw how administrative overhead, unclear pricing and multiple layers between a physician and a facility could create misalignment.

Physicians could feel that too much of the value they created disappeared into the staffing structure while healthcare organizations still faced high coverage costs. CMG was built as a smaller alternative—not on the assumption that every staffing firm operates the same way, but on a belief that the model could be more direct.

That philosophy still guides the company: operate efficiently, communicate clearly, support thoughtful provider compensation, remove unnecessary layers and build relationships meant to extend beyond one coverage assignment.

“The entire CMG team serves alongside our healthcare providers.”

The founder's perspective

Three experiences shaped the company.

01

Radiologist

Practicing radiology and working locum tenens gave Dr. Wiedenhoefer direct exposure to the realities physicians face when they work through staffing organizations. That perspective informs how CMG evaluates opportunities, communicates expectations and approaches radiologist recruiting and coverage.

02

Veteran leader

As a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, he brought a service-minded view of leadership into CMG: accept responsibility, support the team, remain accountable and follow through on commitments.

03

Founder

He built CMG around the belief that fewer unnecessary layers could create better alignment among physicians, healthcare organizations and the staffing company. The goal is not simply to fill a shift; it is to understand both sides well enough to build a working relationship.

Our operating philosophy

How we think about the work.

  1. 01

Understand the work before trying to staff it

A physician-led foundation means learning the clinical and operational realities of a coverage need before trying to solve it.

  2. 02

Serve alongside the people you support

Support does not end when an assignment begins. CMG remains involved with providers and healthcare organizations throughout the relationship.

  3. 03

    Keep terms understandable

Compensation, expectations, scheduling and communication should be as clear as possible for everyone involved.

  4. 04

    Remove unnecessary friction

Efficient operations help preserve more value for physicians and healthcare organizations instead of consuming it through avoidable layers.

  5. 05

    Build beyond the transaction

The goal is not one shift or one placement. Strong working relationships create better long-term outcomes for providers, organizations and CMG.

Leadership & support

The people behind the work.

Small enough for relationships to matter.

The people handling the work are the people providers and healthcare organizations come to know. They understand the assignment, the organization and the relationship behind it.
